5 Amazing Things That Are Now True of You

1 | You’re forgiven. Period.
Every wrong thing you’ve ever done or will ever do is forgiven by God.

38 “Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. 39 Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin,” | Acts 13:38-39 NIV

2 | You’re free.
Not just of the guilt or eternal consequences of sin, but free of everything that has held you back from experiencing the life God designed you to have.

17 “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” | 2 Cor. 3:17 NIV

3 | You’re adopted as a son/daughter of God Himself. God is now your Father.
God is no longer a distant reality. He’s an intimate part of your life.

15 “The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.” | Rom. 8:15-16 NIV

This isn’t just a theoretical thing. God actually lives with you now:

16 “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?” | 1 Cor. 3:16 NIV

4 | You’re secure. Nothing can ever separate you from the love of God.
The salvation you have by faith in Jesus is permanent. Nothing can change that:

Jesus said: 28 “I give [those who have faith in me] eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.” | John 10:28-29 NIV

“…neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” | Rom. 8:38-39 NIV

5 | You need to be alert.
In the same way that God is real and active in the world – and in your life! – there are spiritual forces of evil who aren’t thrilled that they’ve lost you to God’s family. Now that you’ve said yes to Jesus, you will likely experience things that are intended to distract you from becoming like Jesus and joining him on mission. That’s the bad news, but here’s the great news:

8 “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. 10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” | 1 Pet. 5:8-10 NIV

You have nothing to fear from these attempts to distract you, but it’s important to learn how to begin growing stronger in your faith as quickly as possible.
