INSTANT TAKEAWAYS

1 | The Goal of Re|engage

The goal of Mission Hill’s Marriage ministry is to Restore, Reconcile, Prepare, and protect. That can be found at Re|Engage.

2 | Tools Used to Process Relationships

Some of the tools used to process the relationship are analyzing where our information comes from. Information that forms our expectations and understanding.

3 | Re|Engage is very different from other small groups

With a culture of no guilt and no shame, couples approach marriage from a Biblical standpoint while being extremely transparent with one another. Vulnerability is contagious. It breeds trust, and produces growth.

4 | You can’t rate your marriage based on comparison to other marriages

The standard is the word of God. Through Re|Engage Eileen and Mike rated their marriage an eight before they started. Afterwards they were an eight as well. It didn’t mean they didn’t grow, it was that the bar or the standard had changed.

5 | The commitment is worth it, and you can ease into it

Re|Engage has a curriculum that is 16 chapters about 3 pages each, that is densely Biblical and can last 18 to 20 weeks. This is in a “closed group” consisting of about 5 couples. There is also an open group that meets at the same time on Monday nights, that is still very beneficial.

VERSE REFERENCES

“But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit.” | Titus 3:4-5

“See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.” | Isaiah 43:19

SHOW NOTES

Deb Mitchell, director of Re|Engage, and Eileen and Mike Sienkiewicz, are sharing with us how they took their marriages to the next level and how you can too. Re|engage is a ministry here at Mission Hills (created by WaterMark) that offers hope to marriages by helping couples move toward oneness through stories of grace and teaching, focusing on things like humility, confession, forgiveness, and commitment. Don’t you want to be fulfilled in your most intimate relationship? Whether your marriage is a solid “8” and you want to get to a “9” or you’re stuck on “2” and wondering if you’re going to make it through another year . . . settle in and listen to this.
