INSTANT TAKEAWAYS

1 | HE ALWAYS PROVIDES

This one is short and sweet. Emerald talks about the Bible Study that she was in, and owning her faith her Sophomore year and how close she felt to God. And we can see that He placed some strong teammates around her at that time. Even though she never had a Christian coach, she never felt any opposition from her leaders in sports. And on top of that, she was fed by her peers and she grew in her love and reverence for the Lord. When we are faithful and are bold in our faith in Him, he will provide building blocks and support where we need it. He promises never to give us more than we can handle! He is there for us and it’s important to live up to the standards that He has set for us.

2 | HE IS ALWAYS THERE

A common feeling for individual-sport athletes is that it’s all on them. You control how fast you swim, you control how fast your run; you’re in control. But you don’t have to be alone in that! God is with us, always. He promises us that. He isn’t swaying the outcomes of sporting events in your favor, or anyone else’s favor. But he wants to be there with you, He wants you to invite Him into your passions. Don’t forget, you are created in His image, fearfully and wonderfully made! In Emerald’s case, she was gifted to run and made it a priority to run for His glory! You do your sport and perform for an audience of one. No matter what, He is faithful even when we are not.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” | Joshua 1:9

SHOW NOTES

Welcome to the first episode and interview from our Identity series. We will be releasing a new episode every Monday for the coming weeks here and we hope you love listening as much as we did capturing the stories here. We have women from every stage of life, who rooted themselves in every sport, who have all come to realize where their identity and passions firmly lie in life, and what really matters. Where our pursuits should be.

Today, we have Wren Pauley interviewing Emerald Holden on to start things off. Emerald is a small town girl who grew up in Wyoming and passionately pursued running and the Lord throughout college and her adult life. Listen in today as she describes finding her actual roots while pursuing her passions and being a mom and a wife while maintaining her eyes on the end goal and filling up her passion bucket with what really matters.

You can also listen in to our newly launched Men’s Podcast Channel: Uncharted, as we’re currently running a sister-program on that channel for male athletes also called Identity.
