Joshua seeks out Moses as a ‘mentor’ of sorts, and Moses in turn, pours into Joshua. God has created us with this innate need to grow in Him, and we need support and guidance for what that can look like in our lives. Mentors can stimulate personal and spiritual growth where we saw a dead end, they can provide wisdom and knowledge into areas that we are unfamiliar with, and they can be a trusted sounding board, where we can be unfiltered as we wrestle with ‘truth’. 2 | ABSOLUTE, UNQUALIFIED COMMITMENT TO GOD

You needn’t be a coward or be fearful when you have God on your side. Through Rahab, a woman with a sketchy background, someone whom society cast out and overlooked, played an instrumental part in the Bible and God honored her for that. Because of her faith, tenacity, and bravery. When we stand up for what we believe in, with an all-powerful, all-knowing God in our corner, we will always be on the winning side.

3 | LEAN INTO THE WORD OF GOD, NOT YOUR PREFERENCES

We really see in this in our culture today, but it’s reflected in the book of Judges as well. There was an incredibly unhealthy cycle where they would disobey and cry out to God to deliverance from oppression. It’s so easy sometimes to trust what we want to be right, without reflecting on what God says is right. It’s simple and comfortable to fall back into what we want, rather than to press into what God has for us. It’s sometimes effortless to fall into culture rather than into our Father’s arms.
