Instant Takeaways

1 | INVEST WHEN YOU CAN

It is all about being present with your kids, being in the moment. We’re not saying that you have to quit your job, invest in a van, and start homeschooling from the road. What Nicholas and Colin discuss here is the intentionality in the time spent with your children. When you’re spending time with them, don’t also be responding to work emails or planning out other things to happen later. Make your kids feel like they’re the most important person in the world while you’re with them and let them know, through your actions and time, that you mean it.

2 | HOW DO YOU INVEST IN YOUR KIDS?

When kids are able to pursue what they’re passionate about, and when parents invest in those passion, a child is able to develop a sense of self. They will be able to identify with the things that they love, and will see that their passions and investments have value. When you show your child that what they’re interested in has worth, and that their pursuit of said hobby is valuable, they root themselves in these passions. You want your child to pursue what they’re interested in wholeheartedly, and you can help with that by doing it with them and encouraging them through it. It’s not just a financial investment, it’s collaborating with them, it’s guiding and directing them (and then letting them teach you) and reinforcing the fact that they’re worth being invested in and worth love.
