1 | KEEP PUSHING THROUGH
There comes a time where we’re asked to give more than we have, and what’s a better example of this than Roy Hobbs in the Natural a la Samson in Judges? When we trust in God to provide for us, when we feel empty, and not in our self-reliance or in our earthly bearings, He can work miracles through us. Our culture tells us that you are enough, on our own. But we are not. Every good and perfect gift comes from above and we need to rely on our relationship with our Father.
2 | Unconventional Leadership
This can also be known as… the Jesus model, or, discipleship. In the movie, The Rookie, we see Jim Morris, who is a teacher, pursue his dream of becoming a major league baseball player. This, in turn, encourages the kids beyond what they have been resigned to. They start to think, what am I capable of? By demonstrating what it looks like to pursue something bigger, can encourage those around us to do the same. Watch what I do, I’ll do it with you, then I’m going to watch you do it.
3 | TRUST YOUR GIFTS FROM GOD
God has equipped each one of us, individually, for His purpose that He has for YOUR life. Don’t look to your friends or neighbors and be jealous of what their giftings are. God has a specific purpose just for you, and we need to trust in that. Don’t worry about what others are gifted with, and what others are doing with what they have. Pour yourself into those areas that God has gifted you, trust in His plan for your life.
4 | The Quiet, Still Voice
Too often in our lives we don’t make time to listen to The Spirit. In the movie, Field of Dreams, Kevin Costner’s character steps out in faith to execute where he’s being led, a great example for us in the modern age. We need to build quiet time into our lives so we can listen, and step out in faith and be led by the Spirit. How can we ever hear the voice of God if we’re not listening?
It is almost that most magical day of the year. Yes, we mean Opening Day. Please explain to me again why Opening Day isn’t a national holiday? Anyways, join us today as Colin hosts and he has on our Local Outreach Director from Mission Hills Church, Chris Goble. Someone who is also as insanely passionate about baseball as he is. Listen is as the guys talk about everything from their first to a favorite memory of Americans past time then cap the episode off with something fun. Stick around through the chaos of their passions to pluck some wisdom from some lesser-seen places. You’re not going to want to miss this one.
