Jennifer talks about her coming to terms with selfishness, which we think a lot of new moms face. We’re accustomed to getting our own way on our own timetables, and that completely goes out the window with kids. There’s give and take with a spouse, but with kids, it’s their needs above everything. And that’s good! There’s a beauty in dying to yourself that you can pass along.

2 | FORGIVENESS

The best way to teach a behavior to the next generation, is to emulate it. To teach forgiveness is to forgive (just as He has forgiven us). When we are quick to ask for forgiveness from our children and to forgive them in grace, it’s teaching them to ask for it. And to come to you quickly to ask for it, in humility. 

3 | Each Family is it’s own casserole

It’s really easy to look at the strengths in others, and covet what they’re doing well. Whether it’s organization, cooking, behavioral correction, scheduling, really anything. But that’s not being true to yourself, the creation that God loves, or the relationships that he has blessed us with. Instead of focusing on the strengths and relationships of those parents around you, focus on what you do well as a mother and take pride in excelling with those talents that your Creator has gifted you.
