INSTANT TAKEAWAYS

1 | MAKE SURE YOU HAVE one ‘HEART FRIEND’

It is imperative that you have a safe space created where you can be completely honest with at least one ‘heart friend’ in your life. As Christians, we need someone whom we can be real, and tough, and honest, and deep, and authentic with and call each other up to God. This is someone who holds you accountable, and you them. Make sure that you have that person in your life who is constantly asking, “How is it with your soul?”, so you can sharpen your heart and your relationship with the Father.

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. | Proverbs 4:23 NIV

2 | KEEP YOUR EYES FIXED ON ETERNITY

We need to keep the focus of our stories on the one who endures, the one who matters. It is so easy for us to get caught up in the minutia of making our own stories matter. Our lives are that of a blink of an eye, yet we spend hours, days, weeks, worrying about the lasting impact we will have on things that aren’t eternal. Although the laundry has to get done and the errands have to get done, just remember to practice the presence of Jesus.

Life is the tale of two stories; one, finite and frail, the other, eternal and enduring. | Louie Giglio

3 | iron sharpens iron

The reason we have our ‘heart friends’ is so that we’re held accountable. We want that truth to be held up to us in a mirror. It is only duress that iron can sharpen iron, under difficult, uncomfortable, and pressurized circumstances are we able to become what God has intended. We all run through periods of time where we lose focus on what’s important, we fall victim to the pressures of the urgent and important. This is the time for you, or those in your life, to call you back to that stability of Christ.

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. | Proverbs 27:17 NIV

SHOW NOTES

We are so excited to bring you our two-part series on Legacy! It is truly a passion of ours that we reproduce the passion for Christ in each generation. Today we speak with Lawanna Busby St. Clair on what it means to make sure that what you’re handing off for the next generation is healthy, good, and Christ-centered. We want to pass along a vibrant, alive faith. Find your “soul-friends”.

Our goal is to help us look either forward on the pathway that we’re looking to take with Christ, or to look back at where Christ has taken us, and reach out to those that are in need. Today, we really push into what it means to put yourself in correct standing with Christ so we can raise the next generation up.
