INSTANT TAKEAWAYS

1 | We need to find balance between work and rest in order to be an effective leader

Scripture reminds us that rest is good for us. God designed us to rest. Even he rested on the seventh day after creating our world! Christ also gives us great examples of the importance of rest and solitude as he found quiet time to rest and pray to his Father.

2 | Soul-care needs to happen every day

We tend to wait until we are exhausted to take a break. But how does this negatively affect us and our family, friends or co-workers? We can prevent burnout by integrating rest and solitude into our daily lives. And if we seek a personal relationship with Jesus, we can rest more fully in his love and feel a stronger presence of the Holy Spirit. As we rest in Jesus and grow closer to him, we’ll be more effective in leading and encouraging others.

SHOW NOTES

Dave Hunt, Mission Hills counselor, and elder, shares about the importance of self-care and soul-care in the next episode in our series, “Trees in the Forest of Leadership” with Pastor Neil Eukel. To be effective leaders, we need to refuel ourselves and find rest for our souls. Listen in today as Dave and Neil reflect on techniques we can all use to care for our souls, and those of our loved ones surrounding us.
