INSTANT TAKEAWAYS

1 | Share the power of living in community with one another

Even though we are more connected technologically than ever before, our neighborhoods are packed with lonely people, living in isolation without community and support. When we reach out and develop community in our neighborhoods, we are offering life-giving support to people who may never have experienced the beauty and power of being in community with another. Best yet, we are following God’s commandment to love our neighbors.

2 | Take the first, simple step

It can be daunting (especially for introverts) to build relationships with our neighbors. Think of one step you can take, such as introducing yourself to the neighbors closest to you. Consider how you can incorporate what you love to do, such as planning a golf outing or inviting others to go on a short hike. And you don’t need to develop something new. Explore opportunities that already exist; say yes to the next invitation that comes your way. If you do want to start something new, just remember to keep it simple and stay focused on the people, rather than the production.
