Engaging kids early in opportunities to serve empowers them to grow stronger in their faith and strengthen their relationship with the Church. Here are just a few reasons why we think it is important to serve with your kids:

1 | Serving is a way to be on Mission

At Mission Hills we exist to become like Jesus and join Him on mission. Serving alongside your family teaches what Jesus came to Earth and exemplified perfectly…to be Gods hands and feet in our church and community

2 | Serving instills responsibility

We teach our kids to clean their rooms, take out the trash, and brush their teeth. We also need to teach our kids that it is our responsibility to serve in our church. Your family can jump into a kid’s ministry classroom or greet people as they walk in the doors of our church. Each opportunity comes with the responsibility of arriving on time and fulfilling a need.

3 | Serving cultivates a servant’s heart

We all want kind kids right? We want the kid who can share their toys or show empathy to a person who gets hurt. Serving as a family teaches your kids about love, grace, mercy, compassion, and much more! The opportunities to serve God’s people open their eyes to a world that needs His love.

4 | Serving gives us front row seats to the best show in town

Do you want to see God move? Serve in different areas in your church and community to see God’s hand at work in the lives of His people. The more we are around people that are not exactly like us, the more we get a glimpse of how the Gospel transforms lives across all ages, races, ethnicities, and genders.

We encourage you to prioritize time in your family calendar this summer to serve. Teach your kids what it looks like to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
