SEASON 2 LAUNCHES FEBRUARY 2020
As we all know, life can get crazy busy with well…life. Everyone has seasons that don’t allow for heavy time commitments to a weekly Bible study at their church or in their neighborhood. That’s why we’ve created a podcast space where you can come and go, as your schedule allows, that points you toward Jesus and His Word.
Each season, hosts Kelly Brown and Kristy Allen Gearhart will discuss a Bible study and share with you what they have learned and how God is moving in their lives as they go through the study.
We want to give you multiple ways to engage with the material; in addition to listening to the podcast, you are welcome to purchase the study book and follow along with us on your own time. We’ve also created a Facebook Group as an online community for listeners of our podcast. We want to get to know you; we’d love to know who you are, what God is teaching you & any questions you have.

Breathe: Making Room for Sabbath by Priscilla Shirer
In our final study session week, we talk about how the Sabbat helps us to see God more clearly and how refocusing our attention on God keeps us from marginalizing God. In Genesis, we see that Sabbath is a statement about God’s sovereignty that has been set since the first 7 days of creation. As we seek to practice a grace-filled Sabbath it will foster worship, intimacy with our Savior & wholeness.
In Ex. 16 we see the Israelites experience the abundance of God in the double-portion miracle which allowed them to truly rest in his provision each week. This week we unpack how seeing God’s abundance in our lives and trusting in it moves us from a place of scarcity to a place of generosity.
Summary: Today we look at the Sabbath principle: resist the urge to continue. To experience Sabbath margin we have to stop something, to rest from something. Sabbath is about surrender, prioritizing God’s command to rest over our own agenda. And as we rest, we reap the benefits of increased intimacy with God and the resulting joy.
In this episode, we covered Week 1 in Priscilla Shirer’s Breathe study. We start with a look at the introduction of rest at creation and how the Sabbath principle can move us from a slavery mindset to a freedom mindset.
In this episode, we will outline how the season of study will work and share some insights the Lord has brought into our lives on the subject before we jump into the study sessions.
We are so excited to announce that for Season 2 we will be discussing Priscilla Shirer’s book “Breathe: Making Room For Sabbath.” In this episode, we share how the Lord brought us to this study and why it is timely for both of us.
