MEET OUR ELDER CANDIDATES
JEFF ORAKER
I grew up in a Christian home with parents who loved and served the Lord. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior as a young boy and was active in my church through a variety of ministries, including Sunday school, youth group, and missions. In college, my Christian community was incredibly influential in establishing the foundations of my Christian walk today.
I have been married to my wonderful wife Stacy for nearly 30 years, and we have two adult children, Zach and Katie. I have practiced law in Denver for more than 30 years, both in private practice and for the federal government. We love MHC’s commitment to boldly preach the word of God and to heavily invest where God is transforming lives.
Over the years, I have had the privilege to serve and lead in many areas of Mission Hills Church, including the elder board, men’s ministry, global outreach, Sunday school, the Life Center, and kids and youth ministries. We are so thankful to be a part of what God is doing at Mission Hills Church.Â
TOM REGER
I’ve attended Mission Hills since 2008. I grew up in central Alaska and moved to Denver in 1997. I met my wife, Carrie, on a volleyball court in 2008 while playing on opposing teams (Carrie’s team won). We have three children, Hudson (14), Sloane (12), and Avery (11).
I grew up in a secular household, typically attending church on Christmas or Easter. After college, I visited churches but never found the right fit. After meeting Carrie, I began attending Mission Hills with her and soon discovered a church that felt like home. Through the first Starting Point class, I came to trust in Jesus and God’s Word, committing my life to Christ and being baptized in 2009. Since then, God has continued to shape my faith, family, and leadership, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the Mission Hills family as an elder.
Carrie and I have served in Kids Ministry and co-led Life Groups, and I’ve had the opportunity to lead Men’s Bible studies for several years. At home, I enjoy walking our two English Springer Spaniels with Carrie, attending the kids’ performances and sports, cooking, reading, and doing my best to keep the grass mostly green.
