We have just announced our audacious vision through the Imagine Initiative. In order to see this vision become a reality, we are hoping to raise $10 million! Imagine is all about advancing the kingdom of God locally, regionally, and globally. Locally, Mission Hills wants to see our facilities maximized to make room for more people, especially the lost who will hear the good news of the gospel and be transformed. We are already seeing the beginnings of our church’s regional impact through multisite’s like Mission Hills en Español and Mission Hills Dove Valley. We hope the work will continue and expand with the proper resources through Imagine. Globally, we are partnering with our missionaries in Poland to expand and enhance facilities they use to reach and disciple thousands for Jesus.
The money we need to raise is significant so we need to be vigilant to rely on the Holy Spirit instead of trying to accomplish this in our own strength. “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain” (Psalm 127:1). So how do we do this? We pray. We pray together as a church.
Jesus taught, “apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). That is a sobering thought. We can do no eternal, God-glorifying good without Jesus. Prayer acknowledges this reality. Prayer declares to the world that we can do nothing apart from the one who saved us.
So as we look to participate in the Imagine Initiative, let us seek the face of our God and admit that without him we can do nothing. We have created a prayer calendar as a tool to assist our church in praying together.
Here is how to use it
Simply read the passage for the day, pray for the specific request listed, and pray for whatever else the passage brings to mind in connection to Imagine. Typically this only takes a few minutes, but it could prompt you to spend much more time in the Word and prayer. Use it in your individual time with Jesus, as a family, or as a Life Group.
I hope it is encouraging for you to know that as you pray through this calendar you are doing so alongside hundreds of others for the glory of God. Imagine will only be as strong as the prayer that accompanies it. So, I implore you to join me in this important work. Let’s get praying, church, and see how God will “do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine” (Ephesians 3:20)!
