Sharpen

Aug 13 @ 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Sharpen

Most men know the name of Jesus. Granger Smith thought he did too.

After 24 years as an award-winning country music artist, Granger had built what looked like a complete life from every angle. Career, family, success. He grew up in church, made the confession, and from the outside everything seemed right. But while Granger knew the name of Jesus, he did not really know Him.

In 2019, Granger’s family experienced disaster when they lost their three-year-old son River in a tragic accident. In the aftermath, everything he had built to hold his life together couldn’t sustain him. The willpower, the achievement, the self-help tools, the carefully constructed version of himself — none of it helped. What he found in that season changed the direction of his life completely.

Join us Thursday, August 13 for Sharpen. Granger will share his story: what years of achievement actually delivered, what happened when it all ran out, and what genuine transformation looks like when you finally stop knowing Jesus name and start knowing him.

If you have worked hard, built something, checked all the right boxes, and you still carry a quiet sense that something is missing, this night is for you.

This event is open to all guys 6th grade and up. Bring your sons, grandsons, nephews, friends, and anyone who has been quietly wondering whether the life they built is actually what they were looking for.

MEET OUR SPEAKER

GRANGER SMITH is a New York Times bestselling author, speaker, and Christian minister whose story resonates with men who have achieved what the world told them to chase and still found something missing.

After a 24-year career as an award-winning country music artist, Smith had built what looked like a complete life from every angle. He grew up in church, made the confession, and from the outside everything seemed right. But in his own words: he knew the name of Jesus. He just did not know him.

In 2019, Granger’s three-year-old son River drowned in a tragic accident. In the aftermath, everything he had built to manage his life had nothing to say. What he found in that season changed him completely. He left music to pursue ministry, and his memoir Like a River: Finding the Faith and Strength to Move Forward After Loss and Heartache became a New York Times bestseller.

He currently serves as an elder at his local church, is pursuing his Master’s degree at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and hosts The 9941 Podcast. His forthcoming book, Poison in the Well: 11 Toxic Beliefs That Kept Me from the Living Water of Jesus (Thomas Nelson), releases September 8, 2026.
