ELC Assistant Teacher

Department: Kids Ministry
Status: 4.5 Hours/Week

PURPOSE STATEMENT
To assist with and help provide experiences and guidance that will promote optimum development of children within a Christ-centered environment.

REQUIREMENTS
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Must have fingerprints, FBI check, and CBI check completed and sent to the appropriate authorities within five days of working with children
Physical Requirements:
• Each staff member shall present a dated medical statement, signed by a licensed physician, nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant, verifying that he/she suffers from no physical or known emotional illness or condition that would adversely affect child care. This statement shall be dated not more than six months prior to employment or within thirty days after the date of employment.
• The employee shall obtain a subsequent statement every two years or at the time interval recommended by the physician, nurse practitioner or licensed physician’s assistant.
• The staff member shall submit a statement of current immunizations he/she has had.
• An employee, who, upon examination or as a result of test, shows indication of a physical, emotional, or mental condition which could be hazardous to a child, the staff, or self, and which would prevent satisfactory performance of duties, shall not be assigned or returned to a position until the condition is cleared to the satisfaction of the examining physician.
• All persons shall be excluded from the ELC when they have an infectious illness.

• Ability to assist the teacher in record keeping
• Ability to assist the teacher in the organization of the classroom
• Ability to interact, initiate and encourage the children in the activities of the day
• Ability to use appropriate and positive discipline
• Classroom experience (preferred)
• Maintains Colorado State Rules and Regulations
• Knowledge and support of ACSI

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in creating a warm and safe environment that is orderly, clean and appealing, that permits the child to grow and explore
• Establish and maintain good communication with parents on a daily, informal basis
• Communicates well with director, classroom teacher, staff and parents
• Assists with the day to day functions of the classroom and preparation of the materials
• Comply with and support Mission Hills Church and ELC policies
• Attend monthly staff meetings, teacher training days, annual performance reviews, Back-to-School night and special events

RELATIONSHIPS
• Reports directly to the MHELC Director
• Relates closely with the classroom assistant, ELC staff and the MHC Kids Ministry Team

Paid Childcare Workers

Department: Kids Ministry
Status: Hourly/Part-Time
Reports to: Childcare Coordinator

PURPOSE STATEMENT
To assist the Childcare Coordinator with classroom responsibilities and the care and overall safety of children in a Christ-centered atmosphere.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Endorse and support the Church Covenant, Statement of Faith, Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, Operating Procedures Manual.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide a safe learning environment for children.
• Interact with children.
• Set up and clean up rooms.
• Assist children with bathroom needs, including changing diapers (18 years or older).
• Follow guidelines and schedule provided by Childcare Coordinator.
• Be on time, flexible, and dependable.

• Reports directly to the Childcare Coordinator.
• Relates closely with other paid childcare workers.
