August Family Challenge

Think about the last time you sat down and played a game. Has it been in the last month? Last year? Two years? Maybe not even since you were a child? There seems to be a correlation between the rise of technology and the decline of games. I don’t mean the games on all our devices…but I’m talking about board games, card games, and with-other-people games.

A Heart of Valor | Finishing Strong

We are so excited to launch our new series, “Life on Mission”. Craig Smith, our lead pastor, has charged the staff and congregation alike to live life on Mission with Jesus. It’s what we’re called to do! So, throughout the life of Anchor + Waves, we will be bringing you missional stories from our short term trips, our local partners, and our global partners alike! We will be focusing on what it truly means to serve, as He’s called us to do. Conversations About Race | Ep.101 w/ Sandra + Michael Winfrey

Welcome to Conversations About Race, a (sometimes awkward) conversation about race, what the Bible says about it, and how we can respond. If you do not already know this wonderful Mission Hills couple, we can’t wait for you to meet Sandra and Michael Winfrey. They are kind. They are authentic. They love the Lord. And they have a heart to be on mission with Jesus. The next 60 minutes will give you a unique perspective of parenting kids, serving a community, and doing life as a family of color in a white suburban community and church. The Winfreys will share vulnerably and encourage all of us to get involved in this conversation.

Episode 5 | Ecclesiastes 5:8-6:12

We’ve already examined the vanity of life under the sun in a variety of areas this season — wisdom, pleasure, work, relationships, oppression. In today’s passage, the Teacher turns to examine wealth, concluding that even riches are meaningless! We’ll discuss his observations and then wrap up Chapter 6 with a variety of wisdom for “life under the sun,” a theme that will continue into next week’s episode.

Top 17 Parks

Hi mamas! With summer officially here, my kids have already hit some days of “we don’t know what to do” or the dreaded “I’m bored.” First, let me say, I actually think it is good for our kids to get bored. We live in a culture that is chock full of entertainment and planned activities, and our kids need to know that not every second is going to be figured out for them. I know for a fact that we moms had many moments of true boredom while we were growing up (endless games of M.A.S.H. or folding cootie catchers anyone?). This space of zero planning is where creativity and simple fun is born and nurtured.

Ep. 4 | Chad Moore on BEING the Church

Welcome to our final episode of the 2018 year! Today’s guest is Chad Moore, the Lead Pastor from Sun Valley Community Church in Arizona. Chad is an amazing communicator and a guy that really thinks a lot about what he does when he’s preaching, and who he’s reaching. He’s very intentional in planning out he thoughts, how they’re going to be received, and how he can work in comic book references, “trojan horsed” and spiritual road signs! He’s funny, he’s a great friend and an even better speaker. Tune in as Craig and Chad discuss what modern churches are marching towards, what it means to BE the church, and how to preach in such a way that creates culture, and moves “vision” forward.
