What We Believe

The Word of God
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

The Trinity
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons; that these are equal in every divine perfection; and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption.

God the Father
We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayers; and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, and ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth.

The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide.

Regeneration
We believe that all men are sinners by nature and by choice and are, therefore, under condemnation. We believe that those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit.

The Church
We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible confession of faith, and associated for worship, work, and fellowship. We believe that God has lain upon the members of the local church the primary task of giving the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world.

Christian Conduct
We believe that a Christian should live for the glory of God and the well-being of his or her fellowmen; that Christian conduct should be blameless before the world; that we should be faithful stewards of our possessions; and that we should seek to realize for ourselves and others the full stature or maturity in Christ.

The Ordinances
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church: Baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe that the preferred expression of Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer into the name of the triune God. We believe that the Lord's Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Religious Liberty
We believe that every human being has direct relations with God, and is responsible to God alone in all matters of faith; that each church is independent and must be free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority; that, therefore, church and state must be kept separate as having different functions, each fulfilling its duties free from dictation or patronage of the other.

Church Cooperation
We believe that local churches can best promote the cause of Jesus Christ by cooperating with one another in a denominational organization. Such an organization, whether a regional or district conference, exists and functions by the will of the churches. Cooperation in a conference is voluntary and may be terminated at any time. Churches may likewise cooperate with interdenominational fellowships on a voluntary basis.

The Last Things
We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal happiness of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked.

Have you ever wondered....."How Can I Know God?"

The world we live in is an exciting place. We see amazing things around us every day - the beauty of the earth, the information age, scientific marvels, medical innovations, space travel, and much more. There is much for us to enjoy, but why do we seem to never quite have enough?

We see people achieving their goals, enjoying a high standard of living, having more toys than they know what to do with, and yet they find that it's not enough. In spite of all they possess and all they have accomplished, there is still something missing. There are thousands of people walking around on this earth during the most affluent and technologically advanced period the world has ever known who are in a never-ending search for meaning and satisfaction. Why is that the case?

What the Bible has to say about this...

The Bible tells us the reason for the emptiness in our lives and it tells us the reason for that "something is missing" feeling that we have. The reason is we do not live the way God intended for us to live. Instead of acknowledging the creator of the universe as Lord of our lives, we live as if we are God. We simply go about our daily lives without reference to Him. We ignore Him and go our own way. This is basically what the Bible calls sin. And all of us have sinned, every single one of us, and fallen short of God's standard.

God made everyone of us for a personal relationship with Him and when we ignore that relationship, something really is missing. We notice it and we are acutely aware of it. In reaction to that void, however, instead of looking to God, we too often try to fill it with all the wrong things. We try to fill it with a hobby, or with money, or with pleasure, or with religion, or (you fill in the blank). And even though we may fill our time with exciting things and we may indeed experience a temporary fulfillment, over time the emptiness returns. This kind of emptiness is very stubborn and refuses to leave, simply because nothing in this world can adequately take the place of a relationship with the God who created us. We may experience satisfaction for a short time, but it never lasts.

Why don't we have a relationship with God?

Sin separates us from God and from all that has lasting meaning and fulfillment. Sin causes us to be unable to experience His presence in our lives. It blocks the most important relationship in the whole world - our relationship with Him. "For the wages of sin is death…" This death is a spiritual death. It cuts us off from God and we are unable to draw near to him. Because of our sin, we are not only separated from Him now, but we face a terrible judgment of God's wrath when we die. This is the root cause of the emptiness in our lives and the reason for the absence of real meaning.

Even though this separation from God causes great emptiness and even great anguish for some, there is one and only one important reason to have great hope. The well known verse John 3:16 says, "For God loved the world so much that he gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." Jesus came to this earth to rescue sinners - people like you and me. He died on the cross as a payment for our sins so that we would not have to face spiritual death, so we would not have to face His wrath when we die, and so we would not have to be separated from Him - a separation that exists now and that will last for all of eternity. God does not want any of these things to happen to us - He loves us so much.

So, what's the solution?

In order to be restored to a right relationship with God, you must repent of your sins and put your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, for the forgiveness of your sins. "Repent" means to turn from your sins and from your old way of life. You must believe that Jesus died for your sins on the cross and that He rose from the grave. "Believe" means to put your full faith and trust in Jesus, the one who has the power over death. It does not mean an intellectual acknowledgement that Jesus is God, but rather it means that you turn your life over to Him as the Lord of your life.

You must decide, however. Only you can make that decision. If you want to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you can do it right where you are. I invite you to put your faith in Jesus. Here is a prayer that may help you express your faith in Him. This prayer is only a guide to help you put into words your faith in Christ. If you wish to become a Christian, simply pray this prayer in the sincerity of your heart and mean it.

"Lord Jesus, I acknowledge to you that I am a sinner separated from God. I believe that you died on the cross to pay for my sins. I ask you now to forgive me of my sins. I believe in you and ask you to come into my life and be the Lord of my life. I turn from my old way of living and ask you to make me a new person, alive and properly related to you. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus' name, Amen."
